Waterfall
The same waterfall as in the previous post, but this time flowing strong after almost two inches of rain instead of covered with icicles. Our temperature warmed so much after the deep freeze that an approaching cold front triggered thunderstorms complete with a little bit of hail -- just as if it was actually springtime already.
.
At least it warmed a little! Have a great warm weekend:)
ReplyDeleteAfter the frozen time doesn't that sound make you think of spring?? And thunderstorms to boot. That is quite a tease from Mother Nature.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful as well. I take it this only flows after it rains? Or is there always a trickle?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jeannette. You have a great weekend too.
ReplyDeleteYes, Lisa. Even thought I know we have a lot more winter and its accompanying cold temperatures to go, the warm temps, insects, etc. make it difficult to remember spring isn't just around the corner.
ReplyDeleteIt is a winter creek, Ann. In an average year, it runs from mid-fall through late spring, but not during the summer.
ReplyDeleteIt's always nice when the temps warm up, but the wet mess left by ice & snow can sometimes be downright treacherous. I slipped in some mud in my backyard while feeding the birds the other day & almost fell & smashed my head on the edge of the deck. Be careful in the wet smoosh!
ReplyDeleteWe warmed up today also. And what snow and ice we had is gone. The snow was very dirty by the time it melted away.
ReplyDeleteI think our birds are totally confused.
what a magnificent waterfall and lovely to see it flowing and iced up for comparison
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Lana. Mud itself can be awfully slick and treacherous. Fortunately, the heavy rain we had the other night helped wash away a lot of the goop that is created when the ground freezes, heaves and then thaws.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear y'all warmed up too, Abe. From the sound of your forecast the other morning, I though y'all might be iced up for a while.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Juliet. I just wish that waterfall flowed year round. I'd like to try standing under it on a super hot August day.
ReplyDeleteI like that photo. I can't wait for spring which is about 3 months away. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Old Man Winter isn't finished with us yet, Dave, but we will be well into spring in a couple of months.
ReplyDeleteI think you have another storm headed your way. My sister in VA was getting the generator ready for the power outages they have in the country...Michelle
ReplyDeleteMichelle: We lucked out and received a minimal amount of freezing rain and sleet as that storm system moved through. Folks to our west and east were not so lucky. We'll be snowed in for several days, but still have electricity.
