Painted Lichen Moth
(Hypoprepia fucosa)
Range: United States and southern Canada east of the Rockies.
Habitat: Wooded areas; adults are nocturnal and come to light.
Season: Adults fly from May to August in the north; perhaps most of the year in Florida.
Food: Larvae feed on lichen, algae, and moss on trees.
Life Cycle: overwinters as a larva.

I like that hint of pink on those wings. I bet it is pretty with its wings extended. Great photo.
These are such lovely little moths. Too bad they have to be so tiny, because their coloring is spectacular. We see them frequently at our porch lights during the spring and summer. Beautiful picture!
Now you have me wondering about our moths here in south Florida.
