Moonseed Moth (Plusiodonta compressipalpis)



Observed: Under our porch light numerous time over the summer.

Range: Quebec to northern Florida, west to Arizona, north to Manitoba.

Larva host plant: Common Moonseed vine and related species.

Remarks: Wings folded as in the photo on the left is the Moonseed Moth's more common resting position.

What an unusual name Marvin and such a beauty too. I found one last weekend that had the lvoveliest dots on it and will post it next week. I am SO far behind on my scheduling. :)

What great photos of this moth. You have captured the subtle colors. I can see a twinge of lilac amongst the varying browns and golds.

It's a gorgeous moth. The design and colors combination are unique. Particularly love the purple touch in the wings.

What a beautiful moth. Those kaleidoscope of colors is wonderful, the purple is especially pretty.
