An "X" in the snow marks the location of my world in recent days.
How was the "X" formed? Ice accumulated on the power lines above, forming an ice tube around the line. When the sun came out, it melted the top off the tube and the remaining ice fell to the ground. These two pieces just happened to land on the snow in the pattern of an "X'. The rake-like tines on one side were caused by icicles hanging down from the tube's bottom side.
An additional couple of inches of heavy, wet snow fell overnight. This photo was not converted to black and white. My world IS black and white on Monday morning.

My world looked much the same this morning. We are lucky not to have all that ice though. Interesting that X showed up in your world.
I love the second photo in particular. It reminds me a lot of San Diego, only with snow and defoliated trees instead of sand and palms.
Come to think of it, they're not so similar after all.
:-)
I have to return now and then to look at your photos and remind myself of how lucky I am that while my world is chilly, gray and grim, it isn't THAT cold or that black and white! Snow can be beautiful if you're not having to shovel it, drive in it, get to work/school in it! Great captures! Have a great week and stay warm!

The second is gorgeous. The first wonderfully mysterious (but thanks for the detailed explanation!)
Good photos. We've had our snow and now it's turning colder. Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
Love that "X" marks the spot! I'm glad it caught your eye. That's a beautiful scene in your second photo.
We had a surprise snow here, also. I was somewhat startled when I pulled the curtains back this am. Heavy, wet stuff, but not much of it, and none on the street. YAY!
Those two shots are gorgeous! I know, it's probably a wee bit boring for you to have it b&w, but I like it.
Such Beauty!
I think my world is about to return to this on Wednesday, roll on summer eh!
What magical scenes! Love that X shot.
Great shots. Have a nice day and stay warm.
