  2. I love this picture. How you ever got the pictures I don't know. Lizards are so illusive. I guess I would be too if everyone wanted to gobble me for dinner.

I don't think I have seen this one before. I have never seen a lizard in our garden. Just 3 years ago did I start seeing a snake occasionally. They eat the slugs for me so I encourage them.

I would love to see a lizard in our garden. Where I used to live there was a little black lizard the I would see all the time.

Do you have other lizards around your place?

  3. Ok Marvin, now I'm jealous! I love lizards and have to drive two hours to get to a place in Ohio that is wild enough to still have an intact herpetofauna. Beautiful shot. Is this an eastern fence lizard? Or do you have the western species?

  6. Look at the gorgeous iridescent tummy he has!!!

I'm glad that the only damage you got, was a partially blocking tree on your road. At least, I take it, that's all you got...

  7. It's probably an eastern fence lizard. Most of our species of other critters are eastern, but honestly, I haven't gotten into identifying herps -- yet.

Off hand, I remember seeing three or four different types of lizards. These fence lizards are usually very cooperative subjects. Once they've found their place in the sun, they tend to stay put.

    Skinks we also have.

  8. Great Capture, I saw some of our lizards many years ago, in all place a rubbish tip.. I was dropping some rubble off and notice two near an old carpet, when I looked under their were around 20. I moved other stuff and found many more. I've never seen them anywhere else since.

  9. Marvin, I am very fond of lizards. I have several species who live at my house. I believe it's an Eastern Fence Lizard but I don't recall a blue belly (could be a male).

    Great photos!
