Rosy Maple Moth 
(Dryocampa rubicunda - 7715)

Some speculate these colorful moths mimic red maple samaras (the term for the helicopter-like fruit of maples).  (See Ohio Birds and Biodiversity by Jim McCormac)

  1. I love seeing these pretty little moths. They look like some little girl got her favorite crayons out and colored them. Beautiful shot.
