Snowberry Clearwing Moth (Hemaris diffinis)

Snowberry Clearwing Moth (Hemaris diffinis)

I finally found a Snowberry Clearwing Moth at rest and was able to get a clear photo of its wings.
To be honest, judging from its wear and fade, I suspect this moth was beyond resting and was very nearly to the point of eternal slumber. It still moved, but stayed in the same location for several hours. The moth was gone the next morning, but did it fly away or was it eaten? We will never know.

Let us just think that it is happy what ever happened. A wonderful picture Marvin. It looks almost three dimensional.

Beautiful shot of it Marvin. I was lucky to find a Citrus Swallowtail in the same conditing not so long ago and this afforded me the chance to get some wonderful shots of it too. If you are interested, this is the link to it.

It's beautiful! I always like to think it flew away, but they can't live forever.

What a lovely name!

And it's wing tips look "dipped" in something red.

But it's poor left wing is beat up...

These "hummingbird" type of moths are so interesting! I'd still love to see one. My manager did not long ago, so perhaps I'll get an opportunity at some point.
Lovely photo, of course!

Good photo Marvin.

I have never seen one still, not in 50+ years. At least not that I remember.

Amazing.

Geeesh... Hang around in the same spot and you're likely to be eaten...   Rough life...

BTW, my recent comments don't seem to be showing up on your blog. I always get some kind of "error on page" message. Not sure if there's a real problem or what, but I haven't abandoned you!
